Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Wyandot Early Childhood School!
I am Liz Gruber, Principal at Wyandot ECS. I am thrilled to begin this role in a school that feels like home. I have been a part of Wyandot, as a teacher and administrator for nine of the past eleven years. I taught first grade when the building opened as a K-1 building and am excited to be the Principal as the building transitions to a PreK-2 school. Both of my daughters attended Wyandot as well, so I have also been a parent at Wyandot and am currently a parent at Woodland Elementary and Liberty Junior School. We are invested in Lakota Schools and are proud to be a part of an amazing community.
This year brings changes to our ECS buildings in Lakota. We have added a preschool class to Wyandot and we are lucky enough to keep our students for one more year as they complete 2nd grade before moving on to Elementary school. We are VERY excited for this change and all the possibilities it may bring!
Below is a list of Important Dates and other information that will hopefully answer some of your questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with other questions or concerns. We are here to help!
Open House for our 1st and 2nd grade families will be held on August 14th from 5:30-7:00pm. This is an opportunity to stop by, meet your child’s teacher and drop off any school supplies you may have purchased. You can also play on the playground and tour the building if you would like!
Home Access Center (HAC)
You will use HAC to find information specific to your child including teacher placement and bus information. This information will be available on our Home Access Center beginning August 8th. You can find the Home Access Center under the Quick Links at www.lakotaonline.com.
For the 18-19 school year, our school day will be from 9:10am - 4:00pm.
Car Riders – If you choose to drive your child to school, you will need to park your car in the front parking lot, walk your child in and then wait with them in the lobby until 9:05 when students are dismissed to classes by our staff. We will open the front doors at 9:00am for arrival. *This is a change due to the change in times for ECS and Elementary buildings.
Bus Riders – All students that attend Early Childhood Schools are provided bussing. If your child is a bus rider, there will be plenty of staff on hand to help your child find his/her way to their classroom.
Car Riders – If you choose to pick up your child from school every day, you will need to follow the same procedure of parking in the front lot and come into the school. We will have staff on duty to greet you and bring your child to you. **You will need to bring a State Issued ID when you pick up your child, for the safety of all children. We will open the door for dismissal at 3:50pm.
Bus Riders – All students that attend Early Childhood Schools are provided bussing. If your child is a bus rider, his/her teacher will walk students to each bus at dismissal.
We require a current Transportation Form be on file in our office at the start of the school year. If there are any permanent changes to your child’s transportation routine, now or throughout the school year, it is imperative that you complete a new form and let our office staff know. This form is the only information we have regarding how to safely transport your child home from school.
Any temporary changes in his/her transportation routine can be emailed to our office staff – firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Our PTO at Wyandot is amazing! They work hard to bring enriching opportunities to Wyandot for all of our students. From Movie Nights, Culture Night, Trunk or Treat and many more events, we couldn’t be the school we are without them! Please consider joining the PTO and/or volunteering as much or little as you are able. It takes a village! Please look for information on our Walk-a-Thon to be coming home soon! This link will take you to the Wyandot PTO website - www.wyandotpto.com.
If you are looking to meet a few families or visit Wyandot prior to school, Monday August 6th would be a great chance for both of those. From 6-7:30 on August 6th, we will be pulling weeds, planting flowers and sprucing up the grounds at Wyandot in anticipation for the first day of school! Join us with your gardening gloves, shovels, clippers or whatever you have on hand! We would love to have you!
